first 3 days!! ^^
HIHI!! I'm finally be able to use the internet from my dorm apartment!! AT LAST!! almost 3 days without internet is like having me drink poison and to slowly die from it! hahaha! ok.. maybe not to the extend till I'll die, but you get the point. -.-
alright. UPDATES UPDATES UPDATES AND MORE UPDATES!
Day1Reached Changi Airport at around 530am and all thanks to nic for sending me to airport! hahaha! so we were there and doing nothing while waiting for the rest of the students to appear slowly in the airport. There were some photo taking sessions and nic was like my "relative"... haha! it was hilarious I tell you!
then when checking in already, one of my friend asked me, "Hey! That tall guy with you, is your brother ah?"
haha! I was laughing like mad and told them he was my friend. Then the rest was like, "But both your face shape like the same sia." and I continued by asking to guess how old nic will be. And guess their guesses??
Answer revealed: 20++ or those just after NS lo..
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
oh well. So I sms-ed nic and he replied, "Give him 10 bucks. Say I give one. Ha. ha."
-.- right?? so old liao still like that. haahahahah! =P
ok. Anyway, we took flight, change plane and reached wuhan at around 5plus. We had to wait for other team of students to come along before heading to get our dinner. I tell you, the dinner place looks just like City Hall (the court) and the food is pretty good! What's more. With 10 people spamming the food, the total bill came only to 147RMB (around SGD 30).. wahlao!!
and SO, we reached the hostel at around 10plus or so.. zzz.. packed and SLEEp.. well, after playing a match of Dota and a few rounds of Warlock. hahahha!
REFLECTION OF DAY1, MONDAY, 25 AUGUST 2008:Time: 11:49pm
When I first entered the dormitory, I was a little disappointed with the state of the dorm. It was a little off standard from what I expected as there is no wireless connection, no kitchen and washing area. Therefore, there were quite a number of inconveniences such as limited choices of food to eat when in dorm, unable to update family members often when needed and problems with washing laundry. However, after some thoughts, I intend to give it a try in trying to adapt to the different environment. Since it wasn’t so bad that the place is un-stay able. So with little planning on where we can do our laundry, what to buy for supper or other meals and little arrangement, all of us in the dorm are able to make it slightly more comfortable for us to stay.
This kind of adapting ability would help us in future as we are able to better tolerate discomfort and change the environment for the better. This is a good learning experience in all.
Learning in progress: Being adaptive to environment around meDay 2ok.. here's all the picture start coming out. haha! woke up and here's how my room in the apartment looked like..

erm.. the view of the room when I just woke up. ^^

well, then we went to eat breakfast at the school canteen. We looked here and there and only found this la-mian stall open. So I ordered an egg la-mian.. WAHLAO! the portion is SUPER man! firstly, it cost 4RMB (around SGD 0.80). Secondly, their portion is like Singapore's 4dollars worth of ban mian!!! CRAZY! heaviest breakfast I had man! and I think I will die if I eat like this for the whole 6 weeks!!! hahha!~ =P
well, we had some mini tour after that around the school. I tell you, the SCHOOL IS DAMN SUPER DUPER DUPER SUPER DAMN BIG LA! its like NUS + NTU together ok.. walking from dorm area to our classroom area will take around 15min already la! MADNESS!
well, had some time to use the net in the computer lab and then had to head out to go some mini shopping.. went with my apartment mates to buy many many daily necessity.. we spent about 300 RMB!! well, mainly on tidbits! hahahah!

REFLECTION OF DAY 2, TUESDAY, 26 AUGUST 2008:Time: 11:28pm
We went on for a tour in the school area from the 2nd canteen to the School of Foreign Language. The distance was pretty alright but it was under a hot sun. We then arrived at the main entrance of the school where we had to wait for quite some time. I felt a little frustrated as we had to waste time waiting for the lecturers to decide what we can do. As we thought all things had been planned, it will be thought that even last minute changes should already been discussed the night before. But after some thinking, I thought that maybe there were some problems in getting both side to gain in a win-win situation. Therefore, a longer discussion is needed. In the end, we get to use the internet access in the computer lab which is good enough since we get to contact our relatives or friends via E-mails or MSN to tell them that we are safe. Therefore, it was not a very big deal after being able to think through things calmly. Also, I took the chance to chat with the other ICT students whom I’ve always met but never talked to. It was a great opportunity for me to try and know them since we will be staying almost together (well, staying together for all the guys) for the next 5weeks plus. So I took some time to start little conversations with different people and try to know them more.

They are really a great bunch of people who jokes around and stuff! I’m super glad I came, because I can know more people!
Learning in progress: Building relations with people whom I’m not familiar withDay 3gonna keep this short cause I'm a little sian of updating already. haha!!
early in the morning, the guys woke up at 6 to jog. We went like 1/4 of the school perimeter only I guess and we had to head to canteen to have our breakfast. I tell you, the food there is REALLY CHEAP but NICE AS WELL!! haha! so we ate and went back to apartment to bathe and get ready for lesson..
first lesson of the day was our IS module where a China lecturer came and share about Business Etiquette and how China's business works.. It was super super super SSSSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW and the lecturer simply don't know how to be DIRECT-TO-THE-POINT. He basically read out the LONG paragraphs in the ppt slides and then ELABORATE it.. -.- I was awake for 30min and started to doze off liao.. haha! zzzz... pretty nice to sleep especially with the air-con behind me.. hahaha! =P
well, I manage to be awake here and there because of my boss beside me.. keep calling me to wake up when the lecturer hits a new chapter. haha! so funny. So my note taking went from pretty detailed... to detailed... to little details... to point form... to one word.. hahahahha! but it ended at around 1145am and we all went for lunch to wake ourselves up! hahah!
and oh.. we did took some photos after lesson.. haha!

REFLECTION OF DAY 3, WEDNESDAY, 27 AUGUST 2008:Time: 12:43am
Today was the first IS module lecture. It was very interesting for me as I get to learn a lot of Business Etiquette. It has broadened my knowledge on the ways people in China does business and their culture at work. I have learnt to better accept different style of working cultures as different places have different beliefs on the same action done. Therefore, it is not easy to do business that is international as you have to learn to be adaptive.
From today onwards, I want to learn to be more adaptive to the cultural difference which will benefit me in future if I were to go to other countries or get chances to mix with different people that we don’t usually meet. I’m sure this will help me a lot.
Today was also a day where I was exposed to the difference in culture. Lecturers in China tend to be slower in speaking in English since it is not their forte. I was almost bored to death with their speed as I was too used to the fast-paced lessons in class. However, knowing that it is already considered very well for them to be able to speak in good English, I made the effort to pay attention during the lecture. Still, having little difficulties to keep myself awake,
I took an opportunity to chat a little with one of the ICT guys and also took some photos to keep myself awake! (I know I shouldn’t be doing so, but it was one of the ways I could think of to keep myself awake! Haha!)
Learning in progress: Adaptive to various culture/Knowing more peopleyeah... and so.. this is how my first 3 days went! hahah! update soon! GTG already!
