Woohoo! Day 6 ^^
It may be a long long long long post I warn you. Depends on whether I feel like making it long or not. hahahha! Here goes... =)
Day 6Morning was supposed to gather at 820am and the guys woke up like 8am -.- haha! It was kind of funny. All of us slept around 12plus 1am and we always ended up waking up late then what we set for ourselves. Well, all the snoozing habits sure came in place =\
anyway, we were going on a tour to the WuChang area where we visit first, the Museum then the Yellow Crane Tower after lunch. It was quite an interesting, funny and fun day even though it was drizzling here and there which makes it a little irritating.
Before getting to the museum part, there's this some interesting fact that I want to share which I was pretty amazed by it. haha! the TOP 3 list of CHINA FACT WHICH AMAZES BINGRONG THE GREAT!
3rd place: The ending number of the cab's number plate will help you know which cab will stop and fetch you for the day. According to one of the China lecturer, if the ending number of the cab's number is an odd number and today is an odd day, the cab will stop and fetch you! So example, today is Monday and only cabs with ending number of 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 will stop to fetch you! INTERESTING RIGHT??!! haha!
2nd place: Cab starting fare is 3RMB (around SGD 0.60)!! very WHAT THE right??!! hahaha! the reason being was that last time China had this trishaw cab thinggy. But due to the fact that it doesn't really attract investors because of its unglamness, the trishaw business had to wind-up. Then, ask the trishaw thinggy pricing is about 3 - 4RMB, the government decided to drop the cab's starting fare from 8RMB to 3RMB! haha! so yeah. taking cab in China is SUPER CHEAP provided you don;t get CON! hahaha!
1st place: Housing in China is LIKE SUPER CHEAP LA! the bus to museum was passing by this building-in-progress condo like housing. And then the tour guide suddenly tell us that those kind of housing, the price of each unit is only 7,000RMB!! WALAO! I think I can own a few and then rent to the China peeps and EARN MILLIONS! Wahahahah! GOSH! its like so WWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT TTTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHEEEEEE la! hahaha! oh wells. =)
So yea. Realise 2 out of 3 facts are about cab? haha! because that is one of the topic I'm more ATTENTIVE to and of course, more easily understood. hahahha! the rest of the stuff that was mentioned had either passed through my mind and went out or just simply D.O.N.T U.N.D.E.R.S.T.A.N.D ^^
Anyway, visiting the museum felt a little boring to me initially, considering that Museum has never been an interest to me (although I was a History student). So I went without having much expectations but taking it as just a time to know more of the other ICT guys. haha!
Serious speaking, the museum had lots of interesting things like the Coffin showcase and other weird looking utensils. I was laughing my head off when I saw some funny things inside the museum. haha! will post the pictures all at one go later on.. haha! so we first went in and saw many things. The first few stuff that we saw are the short sword and bronze mining.

It was pretty interesting you know? especially the short sword. I like the carving on it as it is really special and kind of nice. And do you know? the sword is about 2000 years old!!! haha! can't see right? heh heh heh. it was so SURPRISING la.
well, next up was some walking around and we went up to the second level of the museum to look at some INTERESTING stuff!!
Guess what is it??

ANSWER:

I almost died eating the whole portion la!! haha! the girls even had trouble finishing even though it was like two share one -.- haha! oh well. overall, a very exciting and fun day! =)
REFLECTION OF DAY 6, SATURDAY, 30 AUGUST 2008:Time: 11:20pm
We were on the bus making our way to the museum early in the morning. There was a tour guide who was there to give us from preparation talk about what we will be seeing and what we are seeing. Although I couldn’t understand a lot of what the guide was talking about, I tried my best to listen hard and catch certain things that she was sharing with us. It was really interesting to know certain interesting facts about WuHan, Hubei. There were many names given to the land and also the people over there. Like 热炉 for the place and 日抗英雄 for the people in Wuhan as they could endure the scouring hot sun in the day time.

(the guide)
I felt that the most fulfilling part of the whole day is really the guide’s talk and information giving as that is the one that really gives me an insight into China’s history. Especially at the Yellow Crane Tower. If the guide were not present, I guess I would have just wondered around and left after a short while. Like her information on the Yellow Crane’s appearance and about the 100 cranes that were supposed to be crafted on a wall near the tower.
From what I’ve encountered today, I realized that observation and patience is really important in learning. Without both, it is hard for people to learn from experience as learning or experiencing takes time which means patience and observing will allow one to think deeper on things that he/she sees. So all in all, I think I still need to improve on my observation skills especially when I’m not good at Mandarin interpretations and speaking.
Learning in process: Knowing more about culture and history of Hubei, Wuhanthat's all! =)
Day 5
Day 5Early in the morning wake up at 6am. Every guy in the apartment were like all still sleeping soundly (reason being we slept at 2am+) and we all realised we had to gather by 620am! haha! CHIONG AH! all quickly went to bathe and change and prepare whatever is needed for the trip. We were supposed to make a trip to the steel mill factory to see how they make the steel. was expecting some steel bars being made or cut. hahaha! you know, those games you play.. haha.
anyway, we rushed our way through and boarded the bus at around 625am. haha! EFFICIENT GUYS! ^^
went there. slept on bus, and finally reached. In conclusion for the whole trip, DISAPPOINT, WASTE OF TIME, DUMB! haha! cause the group was too big that they could not arrange enough helmets for us and thus, we were unable to go further into the factory to look at certain process (well, safety precautions.. =\). anyway, the whole trip lasted for about 30minutes only and I got a few lousy shots from my handphone as we could not take videos. haha! here's a peek of what a steel mill factory in China looks like.

well, sorry for the poor quality. But that's the best my handphone can provide. haha!
alright. back to apartment and relax before PM lesson. PM lesson was kind of interesting as it talked about having to do work breakdown schedule. The activity was about coming up with a work breakdown if a case study that was given to us. True enough, it was easy at first glance. But after getting down and start to think about the various factors that were involved, it is actually not easy! haha! talking about never judge a book by its cover eh. haha!
well, class was slightly bored to certain person and then he slept someway during the lesson. Managed to take a snapshot of him while sleeping.. LOL.
P.S the pic looks kind of scary/funny. haha! depends on individual. =) enjoy the pic.

haha! it was super hilarious that Jacob and I were laughing like mad after we took this! =P
REFLECTION OF DAY 5, FRIDAY, 29 AUGUST 2008:Time: 11:31pm
Early morning, we had to gather to make our way to the steel mill factory. The journey was a pretty long one as we had to make our way to WUST (main) and change a bus. Although, it was quite troublesome and somehow stupid, but it was generally still alright with me. Once we reached the steel mill factory, we were being brought to a control room like place to take a peek at the process. After about 5minutes, we were being brought out. I was a little confused at that time and was thinking, “That’s it ah?” But we were later told to board the bus and will be bringing us to another part of the factory. I was looking forward to what has been installed for us.
Upon reaching, I was utterly disappointed with the arrangement as we were not able to see certain things due to the large group of people going and that they could not provide enough helmets for us. We just took a meaningless tour to look at all the machines (as it was a maintenance day) and that was the end of the tour. I felt kind of cheated in certain way as we were like making a wasted trip down. Still, thinking of all the arrangement the lecturers have made for us, I was still grateful to even be able to take a tour in the steel mill factory.
The rest of the day was pretty alright and I’m still glad that I came for this program! =)
