Title comes from a random lyrics of a song. but its nothing. no special meaning. haha! today marks the 32nd day in WuHan and I'm still LOVING it! =)
DAY 32
Met with the whole ICT people at School of Information Engineering once again for a little visit to the classrooms. We went to the laboratory where students have to learn how to set up LAN access etc. It was pretty cool and the students there are very friendly. They even explained to us all the details and process they did in order for the connection to be done properly and who to allow certain PCs to be able to access certain data. Although in Chinese, I was still able to catch a little bit here and there since I've been through the modules, NF and WT. haha! useful for this time! =)
one of the students in class explaining things to Mr. Cai
this is how the classroom looks like when it is during lesson time.
After which, we had PPP lesson which lasted from 11am to near 1pm. Had lunch at canteen four once again. I think it is quite a nice place. serious. nice food too! haha! I simply like the place and it is so much clearer and other canteens. Don't know why. haha!
exterior of canteen four.
this is what i ate yesterday. Its like those soup with rice. VERY NICE and CHEAP! =P
I saw this WHOLE chunk of squid sticks while buying some other food. haha! I wonder if that person will become REAL DUMB after eating all these. hahahaha!
back to PPP lesson once again which I almost felt asleep a few times. but luckily, there were some form of entertainment. So it wasn't too bad. haha! anyway, after lesson, we tried to use a special method to go back to our apartment. There is this stone stairs beside the library which heads out to some unknown area. it is actual an area that looks like an entrance to a jungle. but it wasn't. haha! so being brave and curious, we took this route and testing our luck if we can get back to our apartment. I think we took around 15minutes to get back but it was quite an adventure. we should do this more often and this is what I call, TRYING NEW THINGS! haha! luckily i didn't slip. God bless. while ZW slipped a few times I guess. luckily his laptop is still safe and in one piece.
the grass-way to jungle. haha!
while walking in the mini jungle. I TELL YOU. ALOT OF TORNS OK!!
see the extreme right of the picture. that's where our apartment is.
another view of the starting point.
There was this little house near the ending of the whole journey. Jacob and Sheng Kiat had a little fight. haha! Branch VS some wobbly stick!
went back to slack awhile and head out with Jacob, Guo Yuan and Zheng Wei to play basketball. had a great time sweating it out and playing with the guys. quite fun and had some practice of shooting. went to eat at Canteen 1 and went back to apartment. On our way back, we saw the basketball court near Canteen 2 was filled with people and there was music. Being curious, we went to see what it was. and I turned out to be some mass dancing session. we quickly went back and came out again. This time only Jacob, Guo Yuan and I. we had a fun time over there was we just be open and try to learn the dance steps. very similar to the folk dance which I've learnt back in Secondary School days. it really brings back some memories. good ones of course. Some were pretty easy to learn while some needs alot of coordination from your legs. haha! it was funny looking at all 3 of us learning the dance, especially Guo Yuan. It seems he needs like 10000 acres of land to dance! LOL.
The peeps.
Jacob on drugs. Guo Yuan acting cool.
haha! we just danced around and just be crazy a little before heading back at 9plus. went back and took many dumb shots and tried a 4-man push up. it was quite funny and fun. here are pictures and video!
Jacob started by doing this when he was thinking about something. SUPER STUPID ACTION and IMBA! haha!
Then guo yuan's turn to imitate. quite similar la.
then i tried. but failed. haha
and all 3 comes together? we become SUPER SAINT! hahahaha! =P
And here is the video:
haha! hope u enjoy!
REFLECTION OF DAY 32, THURSDAY, 26th SEPTEMBER 2008:
Time: 12:23am
The most special event of the day would be the mass dance session that was being held at the basketball court area near canteen 2. From what I know, it is like the ending part for their orientation whereby they learn some dances. So when the music plays, they will dance together along with the music. I felt that it is very nice to have it included in the orientation program. More ever, the dances were being taught by the dance club people whom they took the initiative to teach. Jacob, Guo Yuan and I went to take a look at the event initially and we ended up joining in and trying to learn the steps on the spot.
It was very fun and funny to watch all the three of us trying to pick up the steps. Many mistakes and turning around really make us look a little stupid. But still, we had a lot of fun dancing around and mixing around as well.
One thing I observed about the people in school is that they are welcoming towards people around them, even if they do not know you. One example would be that there was this dance where everyone needs to hold hands and form a circle. We were being asked to join in and to try the dance steps. It was fun and the students were friendly to pace themselves so as to allow us to get use to the steps. I felt very involved by their hospitability and enjoyed my time.
One thing I conclude is that people in China do not mind the difference among people and are willing to know new people. This is something which I find lacking among Singaporeans. We tend to be within a group of people whom we are very comfortable with and not “venture” out. And when people come to seek help, we will try to avoid as much as possible. If we want people to be hospitable to us, we first have to be hospitable to others. Like what my lecturer says, “Do to others what you want others to do to you”. Very true indeed.
Overall, being open is very important especially when you meet someone who is very foreign to the area. It will make that person feel very welcome and be able to be comfortable to the surrounding quickly.
